We believe in the Apostolic doctrine of Jesus Christ (Acts 2:42) and are called to one hope, one God, one faith & one baptism; one God and Father of all (Eph 4 : 5,6) our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. Actually the apostles had no doctrine of their own, but they did what Jesus commanded through the Holy Ghost to the apostles whom He had chosen (Acts1:2). Even they did not have the true revelation of what Jesus commanded at that time until the Holy Spirit came down in the 2nd chapter of Acts and showed them the actual meaning of His commandments. On the day of Penatcost, they were filled with the Holy Spirit and preached the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, when 3000 people were pricked in their hearts and asked them “ Men and bretheren – what should we do?” Peter answered and said “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. For the promise is unto you and to your children, to all that are afar off, even as many as the Lord our God shall call (Acts 2:36-42).
The first church which began on the day of Pentecost was Church of the Lord Jesus Christ. The first church followed the Apostolic doctrine (Acts 2:42) which is salvation through baptism in Jesus name, healing in Jesus name and deliverance in Jesus name. There is no other name given under heaven(Acts 4:12) so if you give baptism in any other name, it will not give you salvation. Some churches say that the doctrine is not the most important thing, The doctrine you follow is the foundation on which your church is being built. Apostle Paul writes in 1Cor 3:10 -15 that he has laid the foundation as a wise master builder and be careful how you build on it. vs 11 says there is no other foundation that can be laid, other than Jesus Christ and what you build on it vs 13says every man’s work shall be made manifest so if the foundation itself is not on Jesus Christ but some other thing or person, fire will try every man’s work, so if it is burnt in the end all your efforts will go waste. The revelation is that, His people should be called by His name, His people have to put on His name in baptism. In II Chro 7:14 & 16 we read about this.
A church without the right doctrine is no church. The first church were 3000 souls were added in Acts 2:42, were steadfast in the Apostle’s doctrine and the churches continued in the same doctrine till the reign of Emperor Constantine, when false doctrines crept into the church. Some churches say that they do not want to do what men did but only what Jesus commanded in Mathew 28:19 man could have made a mistake by misinterpreting what Jesus commanded in Acts 2. Actually in Mathew 28:16 the 11 disciples were the ones whom Jesus commanded, to preach the Gospel to every creature baptizing them in the NAME of the Father, Son and HolyGhost not any one else. They did not immediately get up and go give baptism also. On the day of Pentecost in Acts 2 when the Holy Spirit was poured down, the same disciples whom Jesus commanded in Mathew 28 stood up and preached “Repent and be baptized in the name of Jesus Christ for the remission of sins”. Forgiveness of sins is only in Jesus’ name. Mathew 1:21 says, you shall call His name JESUS for he will save the people from their sins. Father, Son and Holy Spirit are not names but the name of the father, son and holy spirit is the Lord Jesus Christ. Amen Hallelujah!!
